My Treasures do not Glitter or Clink Together; they Gleam in the Sun and Neigh in the Night

The title for this piece is an old Arabian proverb that I have always found incredibly moving and evocative.
Both of these paintings are on show in my little gallery at 309 Racecourse Road, Flemington Melbourne. There are new works for sale and old works for show. Viewing is currently by appointment only (but you can pretty much see all the pieces from the street)

Muffins!

Here's the recipe for the lovely ladies from my life drawing class
(everyone knows you go to life drawing for the cake, right?)

Mini Marmalade Muffins

(makes 12 mini muffins)

Ingredients

110g plain flour

45g castor sugar

1 tsp baking powder

pinch of salt

30g butter

¼ cup marmalade

1 egg

100ml of milk

1 tsp vanilla essence

Icing

lemon juice

marmalade

icing sugar

Melt butter and marmalade and set asideto cool.

Grease a mini muffin tin and preheatoven to 180 degrees.

Sift flour and baking powder into amixing bowl and lightly stir in sugar and salt.

In a separate bowl whisk egg, milk andvanilla essence then add butter and marmalade mixture.

Add to dry ingredients and stircarefully to combine.

Don't over mix as muffins will betough.

Pour in to prepared muffin tin and cookfor around 15 minutes, depending on your oven.

The tops of the muffins will still lookquite pale when cooked so use a cake tester.

Ice when cool (not sure on the exactamounts so maybe start with juice of half a lemon and a tsp ofmarmalade, then stir in sufficient icing sugar with a fork to form astiff icing).

It's been a while...

..since I've blogged. Sometimes I get so busy making the work that I don't get around to blogging about it.
At the moment I'm working on two children's books. The artwork for the first one will be sent off today (woohoo!) and hopefully the rough sketch revisions for the second book will be signed off tomorrow. Which means I'll be shut away for the next month painting the final artwork.

In the meantime, here is a painting from earlier this year.

Summer has arrived in Melbourne in much the same manner that night falls in comedy films.
It's too hot to post pictures, however this week I delivered the rough sketches for a very cute little book that will be completed in the new year.
The Obby Old Skol is progressing slowly but happily.
Two of my paintings have been selected by Raleigh Paper to form part of a promotion that will be mailed out in the next few weeks.
I will show you them next time I post.
