Merrrmaids
At the request of my lovely sister in law, I painted our two nieces as mermaids swimming in the ocean.
I'm afraid I find it impossible to think of mermaids without also thinking of Bret and Jemaine :D
Have a good weekend!

A Cut Above!
My Etsy shop has made the cut on A cut above the retsy, a fab blog showcasing the best of Etsy. Head curator, Mélanie Beauvironnois, updates the blog daily with shops that display 'great design, true craftsmanship and impeccable presentation'.
If you love Etsy, but hate trawling through the sheer volume of shops to find the gold, then this blog is for you.
A cut above the retsy is also on Facebook and Pinterest.

Mixing it up
Here's a little detail from my most recent publishing project. I'm not usually a mixed media kind of gal but this piece is a mix of acrylic, chalk pastel and Photoshop.

Work In Progress
This painting began as a small sketch after a surprise encounter Tilly and I had with a low flying wedge tailed eagle.
I painted the background onto heavy watercolour paper that I had prepared with layers of gesso. I then drew the main elements in chalk pastel. I like to work this way, when making my personal work, as it allows me to keep the drawing fresh and I can easily erase it with a damp cloth.
Once I was satisfied with the layout I blocked in the shapes, making any changes that were necessary.
Then I added all of the details...
until it was finished.

Sunday is Market Day!
I've been mounting prints today in preparation for the Abbotsford Convent Makers' Market this Sunday, April 21.
I'll be there from 10-4.00 with fellow artist Sandra Eterovic so do come along and say hi! The market is held indoors in the gorgeous old convent building; it's worth a visit even just to enjoy a coffee or some lunch in such a lovely setting.

I'm here!
I know I haven't posted for a while but I've been organising a heap of different things, as well as working on a few private commissions which have now happily gone off to their new homes.
The big news is that I will be having a solo exhibition of original paintings, most likely early next year. I am feeling both terrified and super excited at the prospect!
I'm also going to be at the Abbotsford Convent Maker's Market next month with the lovely, and talented, Sandra Eterovic. I'll post the details closer to the date.
